I more or less like this one however, the population of trees in the background looks very unrealistic. and doesn't give the foreground any sense of continuity. There is also a lack of focal point. Nice TG2 render though!

I agree mostly with you.
This work was mostly a technical one where I tried to emphasize sense of scale by using DOF and a wider angle.
Therefore it indeed lacks a focal point. I find this difficult anyway.
I think you consider the trees unrealistic because the shading appears a bit flat as there's not much perspective in the background? The shading itself of the trees themselves is pretty accurate I'd think.
